Mobile App Growth · Apps & Games

More downloads.
Users who stay.

Installs are only half the job. We grow your downloads across the app stores, search and paid channels, and work on activation and retention at the same time, so growth compounds instead of leaking out after Day 1.

The short answer

What is mobile app growth marketing?

Mobile app growth marketing means growing the number of people who download your app and the share of them who keep using it. It brings together app store optimisation (ASO), paid user acquisition, search and AI visibility, and retention work such as onboarding and lifecycle messaging, all measured against retained users and revenue rather than raw installs.

Most apps treat these as separate jobs: one team buys installs, another owns the store page, and nobody owns what happens after Day 1. We run them as one system, so every install you pay for has the best chance of becoming a user who stays.

The honest picture

More installs don't fix
a leaky app.

Scaling spend is easy. Scaling it profitably is not. When most new users drop off in the first few days, every extra dollar of user acquisition buys less, and the cost of each retained user climbs quietly while the install numbers still look healthy. That's not a traffic problem. It's a growth system problem.

The fix usually sits in a few places at once: a store page that converts more of the traffic you already get, onboarding that gets users to value faster, and measurement that shows which channels bring users who stay.

Apps that grow well aren't always the ones spending the most. They're the ones growing installs and retention together, so each month builds on the last.

Where app growth usually leaks
Store pages that rank but don't convert browsers into installs
Paid spend scaled into channels and countries where the cost per install keeps rising
New users dropping off in Day 1–3 because onboarding doesn't reach the "aha" moment
Tracking that counts installs but can't show which channels bring users who pay
No visibility when people ask Google, ChatGPT or Perplexity for app recommendations

Fix the leaks first, then scale. The same budget goes further when the users it buys actually stay.

What most agencies get wrong

Three things app marketing keeps getting wrong

These are the patterns we see most often when app growth stalls.

They optimise for installs, not users
Cheap installs look great in a report. But if those users never open the app twice, the campaign has bought nothing except a lower average cost per install.
We measure channels on retained and paying users, not install volume alone.
They ignore the store page
Every paid and organic visitor lands on your store listing. If the screenshots, title and reviews don't convert, you pay for that gap on every single campaign.
Store listing tests run continuously, alongside paid campaigns.
They stop at the install
Acquisition teams hand users over and move on. Onboarding, push and lifecycle messaging get treated as product work that nobody owns, so growth leaks out after Day 1.
Retention and activation are part of the same plan as acquisition.

The SignalScaler approach

How we actually do this

Four parts of one growth system, built to increase downloads and retention together.

01 · Audit & Measurement
See where installs and users are leaking
We start with a full growth audit: channels, countries, store performance, the onboarding funnel and cohort retention. Then we make sure tracking can tell which channels bring users who stay.
Growth audit across acquisition, store and retention
Attribution and event setup review (AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch, Firebase)
Cohort and retention analysis by channel and country
Clear targets for cost per retained user and payback
02 · Store & Organic Growth
Win more installs from traffic you already have
We optimise your App Store and Google Play presence so more searches find you and more visitors install. Organic growth also makes every paid campaign cheaper.
Keyword research and metadata for both stores
Screenshot, icon and video tests using store experiments
Ratings and review strategy
Visibility in Google and AI answers, built on our SEO · AEO · GEO work
03 · User Acquisition
Scale spend where the users stay
We plan and optimise paid acquisition around retained users and revenue, shifting budget toward the channels, countries and creatives that bring users who stick.
Channel mix across Meta, Google App campaigns, TikTok and Apple Search Ads
Ad network strategy (AppLovin, Unity and others) where it fits
Creative testing framework with a steady refresh cycle
Country and audience expansion, tested before it's scaled
04 · Retention & Activation
Turn new installs into active users
We work with your product team on the first few days of the user journey, then build the lifecycle messaging that brings users back.
Onboarding review and Day 1–7 activation fixes
Push, in-app and email lifecycle flows
Re-engagement campaigns for lapsed users
Automation built with our AI marketing automation team

Is this right for you?

This works brilliantly for some apps.
Honestly not for others.

We'd rather tell you upfront.

Great fit if you are...

A live app or game with real traffic that wants to grow downloads and retention
Spending on user acquisition and want more from the same budget
Able to ship store, onboarding and messaging changes on a regular cycle
Roughly aware of what a retained or paying user is worth to you
A SaaS or tech product where the mobile app is a key part of the experience

Probably not right if you...

Haven't launched yet and are still finding product-market fit
Only want cheaper installs, without caring who stays
Can't make any changes to the app or store listing
Expect paid acquisition to be profitable from the first week

Common questions

Questions we get asked most

Straight answers about how we work with apps.

Do you work with games as well as apps?
Yes. We work with consumer apps, games, and SaaS or tech products where the mobile app is a core part of the experience. The approach is the same: grow installs and retention together, measured on users who stay.
We already have a UA team or agency. Can you still help?
Yes. Many teams bring us in alongside their existing UA setup to own the store, retention and measurement work, or to audit and sharpen the acquisition strategy. We don't need to replace what's already working.
What is app store optimisation (ASO)?
ASO is the work of ranking higher in App Store and Google Play search and converting more store visitors into installs. It covers keywords, title and description, screenshots, icons, preview videos, localisation, and ratings and reviews. Because every paid and organic visitor sees your store page, better ASO makes all your other channels more efficient.
Which tools do you work with?
We work with the attribution and analytics tools you already use, such as AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch and Firebase, plus the native store testing tools in App Store Connect and Google Play Console. We'll recommend changes only where your current setup can't answer the questions that matter.
Do you need access to our app code?
No. We recommend onboarding and messaging changes and work with your product team to ship them. We need read access to your analytics, attribution and store consoles to do the audit properly.
How long before we see results?
Store tests and creative tests usually show early signal within a few weeks. Retention improvements take longer to measure, because you need a few cohorts to compare. Most teams see a clear picture by the end of month three.
